Measuring our Commitment to Safety

At AARDE Underground, safety isn't just a priority - it's a core value ingrained in everything we do. We believe in transparency and continuous improvement, which is why we closely monitor and regularly share our safety metrics.

WCB Premium Discount

Our unwavering focus on safety has resulted in a significant 37% premium discount with the Workers' Compensation Board (WCB). This discount is a testament to our impeccable safety record and effective practices.

This puts us in the top 5% of companies in our industry for WCB premiums, showcasing our commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

These savings are shared with our clients, since we don't need to increase our budget to accommodate a poor safety record.

Quarterly Safety Reviews

Every quarter, we gather our entire team to review large-scale safety metrics. These meetings are more than just numbers - we discuss recent incidents in detail and collaborate on prevention strategies.

Our last quarter saw a 15% reduction in near-misses and a 20% improvement in hazard reporting, showing the effectiveness of these reviews.

Continuous Improvement

Our investment in safety equipment doesn't stop. We're always on the lookout for new technologies and gear that can make our worksites even safer. Got an idea for improving safety? We're all ears!

Safety Beyond Our Team

Our commitment to safety extends beyond our immediate team to encompass:

  • Our clients and their property
  • Our suppliers and partners
  • Our community and the environment

We believe that every worker deserves to earn a livable wage and return home to their families each day in the same condition - or better - than when they left for work.

Incident Response

We address safety incidents promptly, discussing them with affected individuals on the day they occur. This has created an environment with a safety-first focus, thanks in large part to the buy in of our team members.

In the past year, we've had zero lost-time incidents, and our quick response to minor issues has prevented any escalation to major incidents.
