Going Above and Beyond for Safety

At AARDE Underground, we don't just talk about safety - we live it every day. Our safety practices aren't just a list of rules; they're the backbone of how we operate. We've put a ton of thought and effort into making sure everyone goes home safe at the end of the day. Our investment into an internal Safety Manager has been extremely beneficial to our safety practices.

Our safety practices are designed to keep our team safe, our clients safe, and the public safe. We're always looking for ways to improve, so we're constantly reviewing and updating our safety practices to make sure they're the best they can be.

Here are some of the key safety practices we have in place:

  • Field Level Hazard Assessments
  • Designated Muster Points
  • Lockout/Tagout
  • Site Barricading
  • Fall Protection
  • First Aid Training for every single member of our team
  • Inspected First Aid Kits in every vehicle and on every job site
  • Identify nearest hospital before beginning work

Continuous Improvement

Our investment in safety equipment doesn't stop. We're always on the lookout for new technologies and gear that can make our worksites even safer. Got an idea for improving safety? We're all ears!

Safety Metrics

We're proud of our safety record, and we're always working to improve it. Check out our safety metrics to see how we're doing.

Quarterly Safety Huddles

Every three months, we hit the pause button on our regular work and get the whole AARDE team together for a day of safety training. It's like a big team huddle where we:

  • Review our safety practices
  • Discuss any incidents that have happened
  • Learn about new safety regulations
  • Share any safety concerns we have
  • Practice our first aid skills

These aren't boring lectures - we make them fun and hands-on. The best way to learn is through action!

Incident Response

We address safety incidents promptly, discussing them with affected individuals on the day they occur. This has created an environment with a safety-first focus, thanks in large part to the buy in of our team members.

In the past year, we've had zero lost-time incidents, and our quick response to minor issues has prevented any escalation to major incidents.
